March meeting held at Florida
Utility Trailer in Apopka

Apopka, Florida
Our meeting was held on March 17,
2006 starting at
11:00 am. Our host, Florida Utility Trailers in Apopka, provided
us with the space and set up for the meeting. FAMSSU Member Kelly Stevens
is the owner of this business. Lunch was catered by Sonny’s Barbecue the
food was plentiful and good, thank you Sonny's. There were about
22 members and guests in attendance.

Networking Opportunities
Better
President
Dale Payne of AA
American opened with
his goals for 2006,
growing the membership
and networking
better. We had
discussions of the
state of the market by
Jon Simpkins of Land
& Sea and internet
advertising.
Bill Martin of Handi
Storage discussed the
"ins and
outs" of internet
advertising. The
group voted to
increase expenditures
from dues on net
advertising.
Barry Taylor of
www.Yellowpages.com
discussed their
advertising options
for members.
Dale discussed a
review of
"clipping
services" that
might be available
around the state to
offer FAMSSU current
info on political
agendas affecting our
industry. He
will follow up and
report back next
meeting. That
meeting date will be
in September and the
date will be
announced.

Insurance
Discussions
Patricia Schmaltz of Lord &
Co, Inc in Tampa
discussed insurance in
general.
Basically she
indicated if the group
wanted to reduce our
rates individually we
should look at our
CLASSICATION of WC and
choose HIGHER
DEDUCTIBLES.
When we give
projections we should
BE CONSERVATIVE in
giving sales dollars
and payroll amounts.
In our
contracts we should
make sure we have HOLD
HARMLESS clauses
passing the liability
to the customer.
There
was quite a bit of
networking and
discussions about all
topics of interest to
companies in our
industry. Walt
from Anchor showed his
"shelving"
system they now sell.
The
next meeting will be
held in September.
